Philip & Morgan :: Married

The best clients are those who come to us through the kind words of past clients … Phil & Morgan were just that.

Earlier this month, we flew to Indiana to shoot their wedding … Our first of 2012.

It was 10 degrees the morning of their wedding … warming to a high of 24 degrees later that day.

The fact that they were adventurous enough to head outside with us says how great they are.

Anytime a bride’s brother leads the ceremony … I know it’ll be a good story.

Their families wrote letters full of well wishes and love to be read during the ceremony … the letter from Morgan’s other brother, who’s currently serving overseas, was the perfect addition.

Their day was full of love … real love.

This is the story of Morgan & Phil, and the day they became husband and wife.

Before the first look, Morgan went to the top floor of the bridal suite to wait for her dad. He wanted to see her before walking her down the aisle. Such a sweet moment.

Then, it was time for the First Look. Phil & Morgan decided to see each other before the ceremony … Love this next series:

Models Needed :: Inspiration Shoots

Hi Portland friends … First of all, we want to thank those of you who have been cheerleaders for us so far. We know we’re new here, and the support we’ve received from our peers and new friends has been awesome.

Now that we have the mushy stuff out of the way … we wanted to talk about something exciting!

You see … We’ve spent the last few months gathering fun ideas, and visiting some amazing places in Oregon. Now we want to challenge ourselves and make these ideas come to life. We are starting a series of inspiration shoots, and we are looking for a few couples to model for us.

Who You Are

  • You’re a guy … or a gal … and you happen to have someone in your life you love spending time with. Boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse … It doesn’t matter as long as you two are in love, and you want to yell it from a mountain <-well, we won’t make you do that … No worries.
  • You love having fun with said partner, and you think it would be really awesome to hang out with us and have some rad photos made.
  • You’re in (or close to) Portland, Oregon
  • You’re up for a little adventure … Of course, we’ll do the driving. We’re expecting a few shoots to be on the coast or in the Gorge.

Who We Are

  • Maybe you already know us … If not, take a few minutes to browse through the blog. You’ll learn a lot about us here.
  • We just moved to Portland, and we’re really passionate about sharing with others and staying inspired … That’s sort of what this whole thing is about!
  • When it comes to photography, we aren’t traditional. We have fun on our shoots and aim to capture the real moments that happen while we’re there.

Like we mentioned up there … We’re planning several different shoots: on the coast, in the Gorge, up in the hills/forest, and a couple in the city. Shoots will take place between February & June, and we’ll be lightly styling each shoot, which means we can infuse a lot of your personalities into the photos.

If you’re interested, shoot us an email: HELLO (at) JIMANDRAVYN (dot) COM. Be sure to introduce yourself. Let us know a little bit about you guys, and why you’d love to work with us.

We’ll talk about all of the details in the email, like when we’re planning the shoots, what to bring/wear, and where they’ll be taking place. Oh yeah, we’ll talk about the usage of the photos once we’re done too (don’t worry, we won’t leave you hanging)!

We’re excited to work with you!

Cheers,

Jim & Ravyn

Henry :: Portland Birth Photography

The realization that birth photography isn’t just about a new life …

It’s about the love that created this new soul.

They waited until his birth to find out if they’d be giving their two children a brother or a sister.

They didn’t name him right away … It felt right to meet him first.

This is the story of Jeremy & Sandra, and the night they welcomed their son into the world.

The staff at OHSU was amazing … So was Sandra’s midwife, Celeste. Loved working with these fabulous women!

If you’re pregnant, in the Portland area, and are thinking of having your birth photographed, I’d love to talk with you! We know birth photography isn’t for everyone … I hope to work with people who truly love & respect the birthing process. I am open to hospital, home, or birth center births as long as you appreciate beautiful photography and want me there to capture the day.

Here’s what Laura, a past client, said about having her birth photographed:

If you are even remotely considering this… do not hesitate. Having these moments documented was the best decision. My husband and I were (both) able to enjoy every second without having to worry about fumbling around with a *not so great* camera. We didn’t even know Ravyn was there and have the entire process beautifully documented. I get to relive every emotion through her photos and it brings tears to my eyes each time I watch the slide show. If you are worried about privacy, don’t be. Ravyn is very professional and, as I said before, we did not even notice she was there during delivery. We wanted a private birth and were able to have exactly that (without a mother or mother-in-law there “to take photos”). I wish she would have been there for the birth of my first child and if I ever have another I will fly her back to Indianapolis to do this again!”

Henry :: One Frame :: Portland Birth Photography

Sharing moments like this make my job feel like … something I could have never imagined.

Words can’t explain how honored I am when families choose to include me in their baby’s delivery. Can’t wait to share more of this sweet family & the day they brought this baby into the world.
